ABOUT US

B.S.D.R.T is a Sarasota based, youth-centered program designed to widen the world and assist teenage adolescents in developing critical thinking, team building, leadership, and effective communication skills needed for life-long learning and success both in and out of school. B.S.D.R.T understands the importance of helping young people find a voice and perceiving themselves, as well as others, in their respective communities and in their own lives.

B.S.D.R.T engages students in educational, recreational, and service opportunities to assist them in becoming more self-aware, in the course of helping them gain insight into how these components help shape the world around them. The importance of sharing with others in a mutually responsible atmosphere is an attempt to consciously embody in each student those elements that are necessary for a healthy individual.

B.S.D.R.T offers young people a safe space, to interpret and express who they are by way of volunteer projects, literacy, activities, social challenges and life-skills curriculum.

About B.S.D.R.T

The B.S.D.R.T Summer Youth Program was created in 2005. It is designed to be a multi-faceted teen program, intended to expose them to life beyond their ten block radius as they meet and interact with professional individuals of various backgrounds, networking, and hands-on-experiences through our three core components educational, recreational, and service.

While some meetings spotlight these teenagers’ interests, others center life-skills topics such as: building self-esteem and community involvement, coping with peer pressure, college preparedness, youth incarceration, career planning, and personal/cultural definitions of family success.

Why B.S.D.R.T?

Our organization has implemented and provides constructive programs that will generate and leave a positive impact on the teens within and beyond as we challenge them to explore the world of opportunities while setting positive life goals. Within a socioeconomic framework, the need for youth mentoring is often a response to already existing community circumstances. More and more youth from a variety of environments need to feel a sense of recognition and belongingness.

Part of the B.S.D.R.T Youth Programs is to advocate for young people and help them counter the negative feelings they experience on an everyday basis. It is our passion to help balance the scales for our teen adolescents by offering them keys to doors that are often and otherwise locked as they see and experience role models as they progressively move into adulthood.

B.S.D.R.T Concept

The program utilizes the following eight keys of excellent to create and empower teens from all locations and backgrounds:

Integrity

Who we are when no one is watching is the greatest judge of who we truly are, and at BSDRT we seek to be constructive citizens of integrity within our societies.

Failure Leads to Success
Failure is truly only a failure when we give up. Often times we believe that if things don't go according to plan, we have failed, but in fact, we have received feedback that could make all the difference.

Speak with Good Purpose
Words have POWER! At BSDRT, we understand the power they hold and we lead students to use the gifts of their voices to uplift and empower their peers as well as their communities.

This is It!
Whatever we do in life, must be completed with full volition and at BSDRT, we encourage students to commit to their dreams and reach for the stars.

Commitment
Commitment is defined as: The ability to follow our vision without wavering. At BSDRT, we empower students to stay true to the course.

Ownership
At BSDRT, students are taught about the value of ownership; not only in owning up to their actions but also in discovering the basics of personal finance and economic ownership.

Flexibility
When things in life don't go as planned, we tend to feel discouraged. But at BSDRT, we remind students about the importance of remaining flexible when new strategies are needed.

Balance
Balance is one of the most important things we can learn in life and when applied to the importance of personal and professional development,  we at BSDRT are teaching the next generation how to truly succeed.
